At our school we follow the IDTA syllabus for both tap and street dance, focusing on rhythm, musicality and precision of movement. Miss Helen also adds her unique style with fun and energising warm-ups, followed by funky routines to the latest popular and age appropriate music.
In January 2019, an ISTD Modern class will be added to our weekly timetable. Watch out for more information coming soon, but we hope you will come and try a class to see if it’s right for you.
We are members of the International Dance Teachers' Association
Learn more about our tap and street tutor, Helen Nettlingham, who formerly worked as a Disney Princess at Disneyland, and the other teachers on our biographies page.
The benefits of tap, street and modern include:
> strength, stamina, control and endurance
> improved posture
> coordination and balance
> flexibility and range of motion
> musicality and rhythm
> appreciation of different music genres
> social skills and improved confidence
> having fun with friends!

We ask that all girls' hair to be tied back in a bun, plait or ponytail and the correct uniform must be worn for all lessons, as we find this helps students get in to the right mindset for the class.

Tap & Street is taught by Miss Helen
Our youngest tap class students are also introduced to street at the same time, with the lesson split equally between the two disciplines. Tap and jazz shoes are both required - we have new and second hand shoes available to order.
Fees are payable in advance of each term - please contact admin@northamptonshiredance.co.uk for more information.
Please see the schedule below for the Spring 2109 term.
